What it means if your customer receives a 403 error message

403 Forbidden

Unfortunately the request that was sent to Secure Hosting could not be completed. It may have violated our internet security policy and was forcefully denied by our web application firewall platform as a security measure. If this was a valid authorised request and you feel this was blocked in error, please contact the merchant or owners of the website you have come from.

This means that the transaction submitted by your customer contained characters that our Web Application Firewall deemed a potential risk to our systems. We have very sensitive tools in place designed to protect systems containing cardholder data. Occasionally these tools may react this way to genuine transactional attempts.

If your customer receives this error, please ask them to capture a screenshot and email it through to you. This screenshot then needs to be forwarded onto Monek on support@monek.co.uk along with your account reference, cardholder's name and the amount they were trying to process. Our technical team will then be able to identify the information that is causing the problem and send you suggestions on how to amend the data.
